Disc Golf Plastics

When we say we have disc golf covered, we mean we've thought about all the ways you can improve your performance, no matter your skill level. Since partnering with Latitude 64 in 2012, Dynamic Discs has released a series of innovative disc golf designs to help you improve your game. Intertwining with this aspect are multiple plastics that deliver a specific feel.

Understanding Disc Golf Plastics

Advanced and tournament disc golf players will wax on about the different types of plastics out there, going into their various benefits and drawbacks. To start with, disc golf plastic type varies by quality, influencing your grip and its durability out on the course.

In working with Latitude 64 to develop our discs, we factor in the following:

  • The degree of grippiness the disc will offer, including in wet and cold conditions.
  • Durability and impact resistance on rough terrain and in hot and cold weather.
  • How flexible the disc will feel, including in hot and cold conditions.
  • Strength and durability in relation to flight characteristics.

Disc golf plastics fall into the following groupings within this spectrum:

  • High-quality and cost-effective plastics: These disc golf plastics tend to be geared toward beginners and those getting into the game. While lower in cost, these plastics tend to offer a strong grip. But you'll find that, out on the course, they show wear sooner and may lose some of their flight characteristics as a result. Yet, they offer a reliable starting spot, help you get a feel for the game, and provide a segue into more stronger plastic types.
  • Premium plastics: Not all premium disc golf plastics are identical. However, they maintain a grippy feel, smoothing out the transition for beginner players improving their skills, and they offer a greater degree of impact resistance too. This last point means that the disc's flight characteristics stay unchanged for longer, allowing you to get more use out of it. As well, premium disc golf plastic materials are the foundation for discs specifically created to handle and remain flexible in hot, cold, or windy conditions.

On this last note, as you improve your skills, consider experimenting with different types of golf discs for grip and flight characteristics to see what works for you.

Moonshine has all of the benefits of Lucid with an added feature - it glows in the dark! Give your disc some light and keep golfing all night long. Expect Moonshine molds to be slightly more overstable than the Lucid version.

Fuzion combines the durability of Lucid with an advanced polymer to form a non-transparent blend of plastic. This plastic also provides players with additional grip.

MSRP: $19.99

The perfect combination of polymers produce some of the most beautiful and durable plastic in disc golf. This translucent blend can take a beating and maintain the original flight characteristics of the disc for many rounds of disc golf.

MSRP: $19.99

Lucid Air uses the same material as our durable Lucid plastic. It has solid plastic at the top and bottom of the rim to protect the microbubbles in the plastic on impact. These microbubbles actually make the disc lighter. They are spread out through the top of the disc and middle of the rim to keep the weight distribution nearly identical to Lucid and Fuzion discs.

MSRP: $19.99

This plastic, in regular conditions, will have a flexible quality and superb grip. When the temperature dips, this blend will retain more flexibility than any other premium plastics we offer. This will translate to better grip and more control when your hands are cold and your grip is compromised. During spring and summer temperatures this disc is perfect for the throwers that like some flex in their disc. These discs will fly with the same consistency and predictability that you are used to from Dynamic Discs.

MSRP: $19.99

BioFuzion plastic is created in an effort to make disc golf more sustainable for the environment while still producing some of the highest quality discs on the market. When our production of Lucid or Fuzion discs doesn’t come out to our high-quality standards, they are melted down and combined to create our BioFuzion plastic. This reduces unnecessary waste and lowers disc golf’s carbon footprint.

MSRP: $17.99

The amount of flexibility in this plastic is almost unbelievable. This ability to absorb impact makes this disc an incredibly smart choice for upshots on dangerous greens and staying in the chains no matter what. For those that like soft plastic, your disc has finally arrived.

MSRP: $14.99

For the player that has to have more flexibility but still wants to retain a great grip. Classic Soft is made with the chains in mind. While you will give up a little distance on a full power shot, the chain grabbing nature of this plastic will win back many more shots than it loses. The goal is to get into the chains. This plastic does it better than any other.

MSRP: $14.99
